Hockey
Get ready to dive deep into the heart and soul of Canada's favorite pastime! The sweat-soaked smell of the locker room. The flick of the wrist-shot. The scream of the enthusiastic fans. Hockey isn't just a game; it's woven into the very fabric of Canadian culture. It unites us, thrills us, and defines us. This one-of-a-kind travelling exhibition from the Canadian Museum of History offers visitors an exciting interactive experience showcasing high points in the sport from both yesterday and today. This engaging exhibition explores the importance and influence of hockey over the past 100 years, and brings the history of the sport to life through profiles of participants at both the professional and amateur levels.
But that's not all! Lambton Heritage Museum curated a special addition to the exhibit. Explore local artifacts and hear stories with deep ties to Lambton County. These treasures offer a glimpse into how hockey has shaped and influenced our own community, providing a richer understanding of its significance on a local level.
Hope and Healing in Canada
Explore a unique outdoor art display on the grounds of Lambton Heritage Museum! This special installation, created by Métis artist Tracey-Mae Chambers, is a part of her powerful Hope and Healing in Canada series. Chambers has shared her work in dozens of locations, including the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery. Her installations are meant to make us think about hope, healing, and the connections we share with each other and with our history.
Il Cammino: From Italy to Sarnia-Lambton
May 15 - June 30, 2024
What does it feel like to take the first step onto a ship that will sail you 7,000 kilometers away from your home? How do you decide what to take with you, and how do you say goodbye to your loved ones? What awaits you on that distant shore?
Join us as we explore the stories of Italian families that immigrated to Sarnia-Lambton in the last century. Many of their experiences are universal for emigrants from countries around the world. Learn about the Italian-Canadian community’s experience in Lambton County as we explore the immigration experience in the 1950s, where early immigrants worked and lived in Sarnia, and the importance of continuing to celebrate traditions from Italy, including making wine at home!
Return of the Swans
This exhibit celebrates the annual appearance of Tundra Swans in the fields behind the Museum. This coincides with the annual spring Tundra Swan migration, which can bring thousands of swans to the area. Check out the migration calendar for daily updates about how many swans have been spotted in the area, visit the Museum to learn more about these amazing creatures and participate in activities.
S.H.E. is Healing
"S.H.E. is Healing" is an art project from local artist Suellen Evoy-Oozeer. It is inspired by a female perspective on the themes Spirit, Humanity, Earth (S.H.E.), and Healing. Evoy-Oozeer's series of spirit portraits were inspired by the kinship and respect she felt sitting down with each woman that is represented. This exhibition unifies all nations with our Earthly Mother, for the future of all children of the earth, the future of those who are yet to arrive, all life, Me, You & Us... We Are All Related.
