Many women of Lambton County are guardians of knowledge who use formal and informal settings to educate their communities.

The settings women have chosen to educate their communities vary from the traditional classroom to the comfort of home.

In the second half of the 1800s, the second most popular career choice for women was teaching (domestic service was the most popular). However, there are also many examples outside the classroom where women assisted in education.

Women's Institutes have always valued education and worked hard to provide training opportunities for women in their communities. 4-H is another example where many women have worked hard to provide leadership training and education on a variety of skills.
