Tomato Cheese Biscuits

Etta Mae Stinson was born on July 27, 1889 in Dawn Township to George and Lillian Jane - Lilly (Law) Sheppard of Concession 4, Dawn Township. She had a sister, Olive Evelyn, who was born on February 23, 1886. Olive married George Burton Symes on May 29, 1907. Olive passed away in 1938.
Etta was nineteen when she married Thomas Stinson on November 25,1908 at Dawn Twp. Thomas was the son of William and Elizabeth (Cummings) Stinson.
On March 19, 1917 their son Lorne Thomas Stinson was born in Dawn Twp. Lorne married Ethel Marie Phair of Dawn Twp. on August 7, 1940 at Dresden, Ontario. Ethel was the daughter of William and Minnie (Oliphant) Phair.
Etta became a Grandmother in abt. 1940 when Lorne and Ethel gave birth to their daughter Shirley Marie Stinson who was an only child.
Shirley married Kenneth George Cox and they had three daughters and five grandchildren. Shirley was involved with the Sarnia Figure Skating Club.
Etta was in poor health for about twelve years before she passed away at her home – Lot 13 Concession 7, Dawn Twp. Etta and Thomas are buried in the Dresden Cemetery, Dresden, Ontario.
Lorne Thomas Stinson passed away in 1990 and his wife Ethel Marie (Phair) Stinson passed in 2004. They were both laid to rest in the Dresden Cemetery.
Shirley (Stinson) Cox passed away on January 1, 2011 and her husband Kenneth passed away on July 3, 2020 they are buried in the Alvinston Cemetery, Alvinston, Ontario.
Ingredients
2 cups sifted pastry flour 2 tablespoons of shortening
4 teaspoons of baking powder ½ c. of grated cheese
1 teaspoon or less salt 2/3 cup of tomato juice
Instructions
Measure the sifted flour again with baking powder and salt, and add tomato juice. Mix lightly to make a dough that can be handled. Bake in hot oven (450 F.) for 12 to 15 minutes
