Dick
(submitted by Arnold Watson)
Little is known about the Dick family. The following comes from a Bible entry.
James Dick (1777 - 1821) and his wife Janet Brown (1776 - 1821) were married in 1799 in Scotland. They emigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1821. The records show that he drowned at Lachine; it is presumed his wife died at the same time.
James and Janet had a family of eleven children: Margaret (1800 -), Janet (1801 -), John (1803 -), Rev. James (1805 -), Agnes ( - 1885), Elizabeth, Jane, Rev. William (1812 - 1858), Rev. Robert (1814 -), Catharine (1816 - 1895) and Rev. Alexander (1818 -).
Rev. Robert Dick married Mary Muir in 1838. They had six children: James A. (1814 - 1870), Mary (1844 - 1846), Robert T., Jennie E., Marie F. (1854 - 1873), and William H. (1858 - 1858).
